Car Drivers using handphones

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

I am not sure why… But there seems to be increasing number of people using their HPs whilst driving.

Sometimes it really makes me wanna get one of these.
Helmet Cams
So I can get these people "In action" & post them in Youtube or something like that.

I mean, picking up a call to tell the caller that you are driving / will call back… now that’s not too bad… even though it’s still not right. But most of the time/ if not all the time… these people are chatting. Laughing away etc etc…

I mean… in a normal day… on my way to the office or to home… I will "catch" @ least 1 to 2 driver’s on the phone while they are driving on the expressway. For me, a 20km one way & 40km 2 ways, I can see @ least 1 - 2 offenders…. I really dunno issit coz these guyz are really good @ hiding when there is a TP around or….

Anywayz… I have also lost count of the number of times I tapped on car windows or honked @ these drivers to ask them to  stop using the phones while they are driving, but I really hope that something can be done if the authorites also deem this act as dangerous too.

TP, Great Job!

IMHO, the authorties should do this more often rather than just during festive seasons…

But none the less… Great effort.

62 speedsters, 14 drink-driving offenders caught on Xmas Day
By S Ramesh, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 25 December 2006 1311 hrs

SINGAPORE: A six-hour islandwide Traffic Police operation on
Christmas Day has resulted in 109 motorists being detained for traffic
offences.

These include speeding and illegally modifying vehicles.

14 of the motorists were caught for drink driving.

The operations commenced at 11.30pm on Christmas eve and ended at 5.30am on Christmas Day.

Of those caught, 62 had exceeded their speed limit.

One driver was caught without having a valid licence and another for driving while under disqualification.

Turning to those caught for drink driving, the Traffic Police emphasise that drink driving is a very serious offence.

Motorists convicted will face severe penalties.

First time drink-driving offenders face a fine of between S$1,000 and S$5,000 or a jail term of up to six months.

Repeat offenders face a mandatory jail term of up to three years.

Motorists are warned that even if the alcohol content in their
blood or breath does not go beyond the legal limit, they can still be
charged for drink driving if the driver’s unable to control the vehicle
properly. - CNA/so

Interesting morning

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

Today on my way to work @ the PIE towards, saw this van with the company logo "***Express" was travelling on lane 2 of the 4 lane expressway… (Lane 1 starts from the exterme left)

What’s new…??

Ya… Nothing right?? Since most of these vehicles ever since their speed limits moved from 60 to 70km/h, their right to travel on the faster lanes also "upgraded".

Normally, if these vehicles can "travel" the required speed / not be a road hog… I wouldn’t even bother… Well, he was travelling @ about 90km/h and somehow when I looked @ the driver… Guess what, he was on his mobile phone…

A Malay driver wearing sun glasses holding a grey clam shell phone driving towards the direction of Jurong somewhere near Lornie Road exit driving the van number 5142.

After I saw him using the phone, I slowed down & wanted to tell him to stop, he stopped by the time he moved forward. He looked sheepish.
:)

But it was really dangerous.

I really need to get that Helmet Cam.

:)

When I got to the office…. Here’s another thing that I saw… Sigh…
Too bad, the site parking idiot has not been updating for quite sometime now, but here’s my version.

Hpim0041_1

Is it really so hard to park straight??

I do have a driving lisence too… but I dun think they’d pass anyone if they park like this….

Sigh….

Why should this bother me? Coz the building’s management recently decided to remove all bike’s lots and convert them into car lots. And that car is blocking my bike from parking my "usualy" lot…
Imagine this… it used to allow about 10-15 bikes to park… now, that space is changed to 3 car lots… sigh…

Double sigh…

Some Picts…

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

Not too long ago, I ranted about bike lots being too small… Can you see the size of this lot???

Anyway, in anohter of my postings, this is the lot that was changed from white to red while my bike was still parked there…. Sigh…

Hpim0012_1

Look @ the size of the lot… sometimes… squeezing into the lot is 1 problem (Sometime… the lot is so small, tilting the bike @ an angle first is not an uncommon sight… and after parking  another problem… how to come off the bike????
hahaha….

Maybe the authorities should standardize the size of bike parking lots.

Hpim0009

here’s another example, can you imagine if these 3 side by side??
Note that the one on the left if not in the center and mine (On the right) skipped one lot… If I did not do that… how to park??

Here’s more picts

For car owners who is reading this…
You may not understand this but imagine this, if car lots forced cars to park this close to one another.

But of course, this pict was "borrowed" from parking idiots.com. But bikes are "forced" to park this close to one another… Sigh…

IMHO, this is how a decent lot should be like.

Doctors Without Boarders

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

On the 1st Dec, I was over @ Looi’s to get my side boxes looked @ as the locks had some problem.

The I met these guyz.

Hpim0029

They were riding these 50cc Hondas around the world.

http://www.scootertur.com/eng-50cc.php

I found out that they were 3 to be doctors from Norway, on an around the world trip.

Message, Doctors without Boarders.

But I asked them why 50cc??  The max speed was something like 80-100km/h… OMG… But I should have seen that coming… Coz it was too easy to use a Tourer… I was kinda "Pai Say" standing next to my ST.
:)

Hpim0034

But this is not the first time that I met doing a round the world trip…

Once I met another guy on a scrambler… cannot remember what was the make of the bike but… Anyway… He gave a "talk" to the one of the "bigger bike group" in SG on touring around the world (If I am not wrong)… But the thing was… When he stopped over @ SG, no one offered to let him stay over… Best of all… I think he was staying @ the famous, "Why not home stay" near Peace Center, and guess what… His bike was vandalised and some of the parts was stolen too…

Sad…

But these to be doctors… Ride on bro.
