180km/h in SG???

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

My bro Galvin juz sent me this clip…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyTnjlmBohA

180km/h in SG… watch what happends in the end…

I mean, honestly, I have tried 160km/h once on the SG highway but this guy tries in on the SG roads…
I think he blew his axel hitting the curb.

Here’s another interesting clip… Going to Hatyai Thailand on a bike…
It’s estimated to be about 900km from the second link…

Anyway, this is as close to being on a bike in the NSHW as you can get without actually doin it.

Notice the wind noise.
If I am not wrong, this bike is a Hayabusa, quite capable of reaching 300+km/h…
Sometimes… too much of that will actually put you to sleep…. Actually, my wife Doris did fall asleep on my ST a couple of time while I was ridin… @ 160… :)

Boy do I miss those dayz…..

ERP Up again!!!

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

It did not seem that long ago when the LTA announced the addition of the afternoon charges of the ERP in CTE from 430pm, and now…

ERP rates to go up at six gantries, mainly at CTE
By Asha Popatlal, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 04 August 2006 1058 hrs

SINGAPORE: Bad news for some motorists — especially for those who drive on the already congested Central Expressway.

ERP rates are set to go up by 50 cents on the CTE north and south of
Braddell Road, on the northbound CTE after the Pan-Island Expressway,
as well as the PIE slip road into CTE.

Rates will also go up on the PIE at Kallang Bahru as well as East Coast Parkway at Fort Road.

The increased rates are for different blocks of the morning peak period and will kick in from Monday.

The increase comes after the Land Transport Authority’s quarterly
review of traffic conditions and is being imposed to maintain LTA’s aim
of an optimal speed range of 45 to 65 kilometres on expressways.

The next quarterly review will take place in November. - CNA /dt

Funny that that the authorties did not mention anything about bikes.
Is the 50 cents increase for bikes as well?

For those who wanna know more about the ERP Rates

Seems like a trend here in SG.
Before election… "Bonus"
After election… "Price Increase"

Talk about circle of life….

Not too long before this increase…
- Taxi Price increase…
- Bus company… Even though they are making money… they still wanna increase the prices of their service…
- Now this…

I really wonder what is next…

The papers mentioned this.
"
The increased rates are for different blocks of the morning peak period and will kick in from Monday."

Since everyone is "avoiding" the CTE, so the PIE & are getting congested because of this…
The rest of the ERPs to follow suite the CTE 430pm charges??
So to "ease" the congestion… should they start charging for the rest of the ERPs on the expressways as well??

Seems like everyone as gotten their PKIs, aka Key Performance Indexes after the election & the main PKI seems to be……….
"Making more profit than last year."

All these conjestions are really adding up…
Including the previous posts about the never ending road works….
(Never could understand why the pipes are always under the roads but seldom on the pavement’s side…)

Bikers in SG, big or small bikes alike…. Are living on the edge where all car drivers wanna get to their destination fast… Even if it means driving recklessly.

*Bet everyone in SG have heard of of even witness cars slamming onto their brakes cos they forgot the insert their cash card before entering the ERP…
These people’d rather risk the person behind’s life (Be it a bike or another car) than to pay a $10 fine if they were to pass the gantry without the cash card. *Cos it’s always the driver behind who is @ fault… (Someone gotta re-look into that rule man…………..)

So……. Sometimes….. it can get alittle tough….. to be Christianly…….. when driving during peak hours………….. But still gotta try…….

Car Vs Bikes??

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

Many a times, car shows no regards to bikes. Cutting into the biker’s lanes, tail gating etc etc… will elaborate more later.

It really saddens me to see news like this:

Two killed in accident at Jurong East
By Matthew Ko, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 01 August 2006 1608 hr

SINGAPORE : Two people were killed in a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a car on Sunday evening.

A 52-year-old motorcyclist and his pillion rider, his 50-year-old wife,
were seriously injured after the incident, which occurred at Jurong
East Street 21 at about 9pm.

Both succumbed to their injuries the next day at National University Hospital.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old woman, was not injured

Sometimes, it’s really hard to forgive the driver.
19, prob P plate etc

IMHO,
In most educational systems for a schools, if the "educator" / teacher, are "measured" by the amount of people who pass or gets an A.

Shouldn’t the "teachers" / "testers" for driving schools be measured by the "failures" of their students as well?

What is controlling these testers from passing "incompetent" students?

There are some forums that I have come accross that "advised" young ladies to "wear" skimpily e.g. short skirt, tank tops etc to "increase" the chances of passing.

Honestly… it’s quite a sad thought to "see" that it’s so easy to "obtain" a driving lisence.

Maybe I should dress like that when I go for my class 4 / 5 etc.
